Q: I am interested in working in pediatrics.  What pediatric populations does G & E serve, and what types of pediatric settings are available to students?

A:  G & E Therapies serves pediatric clients in a variety of settings.  Our company is contracted to provide Early Intervention (EI) services with both Broome and Tioga County Health Departments.  Early Intervention services involve providing physical therapy for infants and children ages 0 to 3 years who meet the eligibility requirements.  Infants and children can qualify for services due to a diagnosed condition, developmental delay, or if they are at risk for developmental delay. These services are provided in the client's natural environment.  Therapists treat children in the EI program in their homes, daycares, or other community settings.

We also provide services to children who are 3-4 years old and eligible for services within the special education system due to a diagnosed condition or gross motor delay.  Children who qualify to receive Committee for Preschool Education Services (CPSE) participate in physical therapy in their homes, daycares, preschools, or elementary schools.

G & E Therapies has contracts with 5 area school districts in order to provide physical therapy services to school-aged children. Children who are found eligible for special education services (SE), receive physical therapy within their local school district.

G & E Therapies can serve private-pay pediatric clients of all ages at home.  These clients receive physical therapy services with a physician referral.  Eligibility is determined through evaluation by one of our licensed physical therapists. G &  E also offers a pediatric residency program which is available to new graduates of physical therapy programs or to physical therapists interested in gaining pediatric experience. For more information, please go to "pediatric residency program" on our website home page.
